Remember

Remember…by Christina Georgina Rosetti

Remember me when I am gone away,

Gone far away into the silent land;

When you can no more hold me by the hand,

Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay.

Remember me when no more day by day

You tell me of our future that you planned;

Only remember me; you understand

It will be late to counsel then or pray.

Yet if you should forget me for a while

And afterwards remember, do not grieve:

For if the darkness and corruption leave

A vestige of thoughts that I once had,

Better by far you should forget and smile

Than that you should remember and be sad.

I came across this poem in Jane Green’s book…Second Chance. In the story, it’s recited at the funeral of a young man much loved by all. It's such a touching poem!

When you have to say goodbye to someone you love, and if you don't really want to, you'll relate to this poem most. At that time... when you don't want to be forgotten, remember this saying too...

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass....

It is about learning to dance in the rain.
